The Iraq University College (IUC) is a private, multidisciplinary institution that was established in the academic year 2004-2005 in Basra Province, with the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, under the guidance and supervision of its founder, Professor Dr. Abdul Hadi Al-Hassani.
The college strives to be a leading and distinguished model among other private universities and colleges by adhering to modern academic standards recognized locally and globally. IUC also seeks collaboration and academic partnerships, starting with prestigious international universities as well as local public universities. The college adopts the latest academic programs and curricula, delivered by a highly experienced and competent faculty. The IUC administration is committed to providing a comprehensive academic environment that supports both theoretical and practical learning, along with all the necessary university requirements for students.

The college currently includes several scientific departments and their respective laboratories, such as the Department of Civil Engineering, the Department of Communication Engineering, the Department of Computer Engineering, the Department of Energy Engineering, and the Department of Computer Engineering Technology. Additionally, it offers departments in Political Science, Law, and Accounting. Work is underway to establish more scientific, medical, health, pharmaceutical, engineering, and humanities departments next year.
The college also hosts several supportive and administrative departments, including Information Technology, Quality Assurance and University Accreditation, Research and Development, Continuing Education, Registration and Student Affairs, Academic Guidance, Media, Human Resources, Accounts, Legal Affairs, Services, Maintenance, and other supporting units essential to the institution’s operations.
Iraq University College (IUC) has had a long-standing relationship with the University of Portsmouth and the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding represent a new phase of partnership between the 2 highly regarded institutes.
IUC have signed this agreement to allow Iraqi Post Graduate students to have the opportunity to complete their study at one of the most decorated universities in the UK the University of Portsmouth.
The university of Portsmouth has a unique blend of academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and practical experience in addition to many ongoing programmes with top class world organizations. In addition to the above, and mainly for the Iraqi students, completing your higher education degree at the University of Portsmouth will have less costs than completing it at other universities which have partnerships with IUC.
The college administration is actively working on scientific, practical, and applied collaboration with numerous universities, colleges, institutes, and scientific institutions both within and outside Iraq, in addition to Iraqi ministries and their departments. The aim is to form a joint scientific team to establish an international center specialized in research and development, aligning with the research and academic aspirations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Efforts are also underway to transform Iraq College University into Iraq University, encompassing multiple specialized colleges.
