Founded in the academic year 2005/2004 in Basra province based on the official founding license by the Cabinet and under the supervision of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research after fulfilling all legal requirements and conditions. Its first seed was planted by Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Al-Hasani, who has continuously enriched it with all the elements that qualify it to achieve scientific achievements and to take its current position today to become one of Iraq’s scientific institutions, as he has ensured that this university becomes an exemplary model among Iraqi and Arab universities in both scientific and educational aspects by following modern curricula, integrated teaching methods, and relying on distinguished scientific cadres in addition to equipping the university with all the necessary scientific materials and modern laboratories.

Iraq University College has taken steady steps towards scientific advancement and progress and keeping pace with the spirit of the modern era to serve our students in all fields. It has distinguished features and characteristics that set it apart from other scientific institutions in the country, including:

1. Joining the Naric International Institution, granting it the right to recognize its graduates’ certificates globally since 2005.

2. Participating in twinning programs with reputable international universities such as the University of Portsmouth (with a success rate of 100% for our students in bachelor’s and master’s studies), Brunel University/SWU West Scotland University, University of Milan, Carabridge University, Tehran University, and Abadan University of Medical Sciences.

3. The college has obtained ISO certification in quality, occupational safety, health, environment, and security areas from the International Organization AGS.

4. Implementing the E-University system for electronic management in various scientific, administrative, and technical transactions since 2015.

5. The college awards CISCO, V sat, and Lingx certificates for student summer training (Experience certificate and academic certificate) (Project Management).

6. The college is subject to the ASIC Accreditation global university ranking system and obtained the ASIC Accreditation accreditation since 2018.

7. The college owns a structural engineering testing laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department.

8. The college’s students have continuously graduated with bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from foreign universities and twinning programs (3+1) with the University of Portsmouth.

9. Our college aims to open scientific departments in the fields of medicine, energy, law, medical analysis, nursing, and in coordination with European and Asian universities.

10. Our college has been awarded the best scientific research for students in Iraq for the academic year 2018/2017 – 2017/2016 within the competition of the American Institute for Research.

11. Evaluation of graduation research projects for fourth-year students by reputable international universities and raising them to the level of master’s research, recognized by specialized professors from British and Iraqi universities.

12. Establishing a separate ON line testing room for electronic exams (MCQS) for all departments and all students.

13. Our college aims to establish an international research center specializing in communications engineering, computer engineering, and civil engineering (nanotechnology) to develop the research aspect and attract distinguished scientific talents holding higher degrees to enhance the country’s scientific level.

14. Our college is in negotiations with reputable scientific universities to open postgraduate studies in various specialties to provide opportunities for students to enter this vital field in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

15. The college is serious about following all scientific developments in the field of studies and adopting what it deems appropriate to meet the needs of our country and society by sending teachers and specialists to specialized scientific and professional courses and events.

16. The college has reduced tuition fees for students from the families of martyrs, the Popular Mobilization Forces, and needy and distinguished families by more than a quarter of a billion dinars annually. Additionally, there are more than (300) students who have not been able to pay tuition fees for the academic years 2019/2018 and 2018/2017.

17. Our college held its fourth scientific conference on telecommunications engineering, computer science, and computer technologies and continues to hold scientific conferences every year.

18. It has been ranked in the RUR global education ranking at 661st globally and scientific research at 800th.
