Al-Iraq University College: Continuous Success in Scientific Research
Outstanding Achievements Added to Al-Iraq University College

With the participation of the President of Al-Iraq University, Prof. Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Hassani, and the universities of UNITEN and UPM, a scientific paper authored by Dohaa Habeeb Mutashar, a faculty member in the Computer Engineering Department, was accepted. The paper is titled:
Advancements and Challenges: A Comprehensive Review of GAN-Based Models in Mitigating Small Dataset and Texture Sticking Issues in Fake License Plate Recognition

The research was accepted in the Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research (ETASR) journal, a Q2 journal indexed in several scientific databases, such as Google Scholar, Scopus, DOAJ, and Clarivate.

The research presents a comprehensive study on the most significant advancements and challenges faced in vehicle license plate recognition, focusing on the scarcity of available data. It explores how GAN (Generative Adversarial Networks) can be used to generate this data, which often faces the issue of texture sticking during the generation process.

The paper explains that addressing these two issues is the first comprehensive review of its kind and discusses how these problems can be overcome, as they had not previously been explored in the context of vehicle license plate recognition.

At the conclusion of this remarkable research, the journal’s editor-in-chief expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the researchers for their efforts in addressing these critical issues.
